Ubuntu Start Up Support Plan
Start-up support and completion record
1. Purpose of this Schedule
This Schedule records the one-time start-up support agreed for the five founding women and their Ubuntu Community. It serves four purposes:
- to state clearly what Ubuntu Goats has agreed to provide;
- to show the condition or stage at which each item may be provided;
- to record what was actually bought, delivered or paid;
- to confirm when the agreed start-up support has been completed.
The amounts below are maximum working budgets. Local prices must be checked before any commitment is made. A budgeted amount is not an automatic cash entitlement.
2. General rules
- Support is released only after the relevant stage of The Road to Becoming an Ubuntu Community has been completed satisfactorily.
- Money may be used only for the item or service for which it was approved.
- An equivalent item that is safer, more durable or more suitable locally may replace a listed item only after prior approval.
- A higher price does not automatically increase Ubuntu Goats’ maximum contribution.
- A lower actual price does not create a right to receive the difference in cash.
- Unused amounts remain with Ubuntu Goats and are not divided among the women.
- Essential animal-welfare care is never withheld merely to test commitment.
- The founding launch payment in section 9 is different: after it has been earned and paid, it belongs personally to the woman and its private use is not prescribed.
3. Readiness and individual goat-care items
Before the goats are delivered, each woman must be able to provide the basic daily care of her goat. The table records whether each item was provided by Ubuntu Goats, contributed by the woman or community, or replaced by an approved local equivalent.
No separate cash allowance is created by this table. An Ubuntu Goats contribution exists only when an amount or item is expressly entered and approved below.

- the preparatory stages have been completed and accepted;
- the communal shelter is ready and accepted;
- the shared equipment has been received and recorded;
- the Community Agreement has been explained and signed;
- each woman has received her goat;
- the initial goat and delivery records are complete.
This payment is recognition of the founding women’s completed preparation and participation. It is not a material allowance, reimbursement, wage or continuing payment. After payment, Ubuntu Goats does not prescribe its private use. Women who join later do not automatically receive it.

The library does not replace advice from an experienced animal-health worker or veterinarian when a goat is seriously ill or injured.
